Mr. Paul Beardsall
Beardsall: James Robert Paul – Died peacefully at home on Saturday May 5th, 2018 in Chatham, Ontario. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Gwen. Paul will be sadly missed by his beloved children, Sharon Stenton (John), Steve Beardsall (Jan), and Geri Haskell (Todd). Predeceased by his son Scott in 1984. Papa was so loved by his cherished grandchildren, Jason, Zach, Derek, Sean, Kate, Jenna, Nick, Tara and his eight great-grandchildren. He is also mourned by his sister-in-law, Shirl Merz, and brother-in-law, Ron Greaves. Paul was born in Toronto on October 24th, 1928. He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Pearl Beardsall, of Elmvale. Paul married the love of his life, Gwendolyn Greaves, in April 1950, and recently they celebrated 68 years together. Paul and Gwen founded the Sound Shop in 1958 when they relocated to Chatham from Toronto. Opening the record store was Paul’s lifelong dream and it was a local institution for over twenty-five years in downtown Chatham. Many will remember Paul for being a pioneer of the local music scene and appreciate the unique impact he had on the youth of Chatham through the decades. Paul’s love of family and friends, zest for life, and sense of humour made him one of a kind. He would never miss a Saturday morning coffee, or happy hour with the ones he loved. Paul’s legacy will leave an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Family will receive friends at the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington Street West, Chatham on Friday May 11th, 2018 with visiting from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be conducted from the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday May 12th, 2018 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Sandra Fogarty officiating. Donations can be made in memory of Paul to the Chatham-Kent Public Library or St. Andrew’s United Church. Online condolences may be left at www.alexanderfuneralhome.ca
