Bras d’Or
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Patrick Wayne MacLeod age 68, beloved father, proud grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, on Thursday July 26, 2018 at his home in Bras d’Or.
Patrick was born in North Sydney, August 16, 1949, he was the son of the late John James and Katherine (Swan) MacLeod. In his younger years he worked away on the Great Lake boats, later at the Sydney Steel Plant and then as a welder with Canadian National Railway, bridges and builders gang until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time near the shore or on the water. He played baseball with the Bras d’Or Pirates, enjoyed coaching both of his sons during their minor baseball years, he was an avid fan of golf. Patrick was a generous man with a kind heart, who chose to see the good in everyone.
Patrick is survived by his sons Patrick Jr. (Shannon) MacLeod, and their children Aidan, Abby, Griffin, Kentville; Cory (Carla) MacLeod, and their children Fernando and Tonicha, Alberta, Florence Moylan, Katherine (Richard) Spezzano, Marilyn (Charles) Ford, all of Connecticut, Kimberly (Urban) Day, Bras d’Or, brothers Dennis MacLeod, Alder Point, Reginald MacLeod, Sydney Mines, Larry (Sharon) MacLeod, Sydney, Dan (Sharon) MacLeod, Boularderie, an aunt Bridget (Reg) Thurbide, Bras d’Or and by several nieces and nephews.
Patrick was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Linda (O’Toole) MacLeod in 2011, by his sister Anna Harvey, brothers John, George and James MacLeod.
By request there will be no public visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
