Nelson Floyd Guthrie
1947-2018
Mr. Nelson Floyd Guthrie, of Grand Harbour, Grand Manan, NB
passed away unexpectedly at The Saint John Regional Hospital, on
Thursday July 26, 2018.
Born in North Head, Grand Manan, NB, Nelson was the son of
the late Benjamin and Myrtle (Foster) Guthrie.
Nelson was a hardworking man all his life, working at
Look’s and then at McLaughlin’s lobster pounds, at
the Connor’s Brothers Sardine Factory until it closed, and
has been working at Island Waste (Transfer Station) for the last 15
years, a job he did well. Nelson was always so helpful and happy to
give a hand with whatever was in the back of your truck or trunk that
day, he will be missed.
Nelson is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rosalie
(McCulley) Guthrie of Grand Harbour, daughter, Heidi (Deane) Griffin
of North Head; son Derek Guthrie (Kim Allan) of Grand Harbour; sister
Zelda (Wilbur) Foote of Grand Harbour; brother, Ernest
Guthrie of Grand Harbour; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, one sister Nellie
McLaughlin; and one brother Ivan.
There will be visitation on Saturday, July 28, 2018
at Ells Funeral Home, Grand Harbour, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to
9:00 PM. Funeral Service will be from the North Head Baptist Church on
Sunday, July 29, 2018 at 1:30 PM.
Donations in Nelson’s memory could be made to the
Heart & Stroke Foundation of NB,The Grand Manan Hospital
Foundation, or to the donor’s choice.
