Nancy Mary Marchylo (nee Ritchie)
April 13, 1931 – July 31, 2018
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Nancy Marchylo, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and good friend on July 31, 2018 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Nancy was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Lawrie Marchylo, in February 2010. She was also predeceased by her parents, Mary and James Ritchie, and her two brothers, Gordon and Clifford Ritchie. Left to cherish her memory are her three loving children, one son, Dr. Brian Marchylo (Jan), two daughters, Brenda Huntington (Paul), and Laurel Marchylo. Grandma will be so sadly missed by her six devoted grandchildren, Andrea (Warren), Craig (Jackie), Stephen, Katie, Brooke (Kevin), and Derrick. Also missing their great grandmother are Amaya, Connor, Charlie, Dylan, Dominic, and Jaxon. Nancy is also survived by her brother Ted Ritchie (Lillian), and sister Mildred Kohler. Nancy was born in Winnipeg where she attended Principal Sparling school and graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. She retired from Great-West Life Assurance Company in 1986 after 15 years of service. Nancy was an original member of the Winnipeg Heather-Belle
Ladies Pipe Band and was with the band for 21 years and served as Pipe Major of the band for 14 years until she retired in 1968. She won many trophies and awards for her individual piping competitions
across Canada and the United States. She continued to support the band and was made an Honorary Life Member. She was also a member of the Robert Burns Camp and the Sons of Scotland Benevolent
Association for the past 52 years. Special thanks to Dr. L. Hilderman for her very kind and caring support over many years, and to all the executive staff and workers, and her good friends at the Seine River Retirement Residence, especially her close friend Ewart Fletcher. In accordance with Nancy’s wishes a private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may donate to the Children’s Wish Foundation, Manitoba Chapter, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB. R3C 3J2, or a charity of their choice.
