Send Sympathy Card
It is with great sadness and shattered hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our dearly beloved mother, Myrna. She passed away suddenly on Friday, December 7, 2018, at the age of 70.
Myrna was born on May 15, 1948 in Winkler, MB, where she spent her childhood years. She later moved to Winnipeg, MB, where she met her husband and married on December 21, 1974. Together they had three children. Myrna worked at home raising her children and later worked as an Educational Assistant at Landmark Elementary School, until her retirement.
She spent her retirement helping out her children in any way she could, loving her grandbabies and giving back to the community through her crocheted goodness. She loved to shop, sew, bake, work in her yard, read, decorate and watch reality tv! Mom was adored and loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed life and lived for her family.
Myrna was predeceased by her husband Charles (2016). Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Tommy Tomko, Carrie-Lynn McLaughlin (Glenn) and Crystal Donais (Jonathan); six grandchildren: Brooklyn Donais, Katie McLaughlin, Brayson Donais, Joshua McLaughlin, Brinley Donais and Brody Donais. She will be sadly missed by sisters (in-laws), brothers (in-laws), nieces, nephews, close friends and everyone else whose lives she touched.
A private family/close friends gathering will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB, with interment to occur at a later date. Myrna never liked when people wore all black to funerals. That being said, she always appreciated a nice pair of black “slacks”. She was always wearing a bit of color. Please come in color! She loved pastels and bright happy colors. Our mom brought the sunshine, so to honor her memory, we should do the same.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Myrna may be made to the Bethesda Foundation (Steinbach Hospital), Unit 3-380 Stone Bridge Crossing, Steinbach, MB R5G 2R1. Please keep her family in your prayers.
We would like to thank the paramedics and ER staff at Steinbach’s Bethesda Regional Health Centre, who worked tirelessly to help our mom. Although the outcome is not what we had anticipated, we know that they took extreme measures and did everything they could to save her.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Myrna Tomko nee Penner May 15 1948 December 07 2018..
