It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother Monique on September 6, 2018, at 83 years old, at the Saint-Sacrement Hospital in Quebec city.
Monique was born in East-Angus, Qc, on November 3rd, 1934. With her mother Elisabeth Bernier, her father Joseph Albert Martin, and her brothers Gaston and Raymond, they formed one of the pioneering families of Baie Comeau, where they moved in 1937. She studied nutrition at Laval University in Quebec city, where she graduated with a BA (Sciences) in 1956. She then interned at Toronto General Hospital, graduating in 1957.
Monique met a young Army officer of the Royal 22nd Regiment, Jacques Morneault, during her studies. They were married at the Citadel de Quebec and raised 4 children in a loving and supportive home despite moving 15 times in 27 years, as military families do. They were separated in 1984, but remained friends until his death in 2001.
Monique worked at the Montreal YMCA from 1985 to 1992, and the Broadbent Institute from 1993 until her retirement in 1998. She lived in Quebec city since 2006.
She leaves behind her children Claude, Andrée (Daniel Kaminski), Brigitte (Jean-Marc Dufour) and François (Virginia Loughnan), and her grandchildren Sonia Kaminski and Philippe Coté-Morneault. She will be missed by her brother Gaston (Marielle), her friends and the members of the Martin and Morneault families, who loved her for her kindness and keen interest in all their adventures.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Monique MartinMorneault anglais 2018..
