MITCHELL, WILLIAM
1928 – 2018
MITCHELL, William (Bill). Passed away peacefully on May 10th at the age of eighty-nine following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Anne (née Carnochan). He is survived by his children Bill (Sue) of Kirkland and Nancy (Franz) of Burlington, ON, as well as his cherished grandsons Matthew and Ryan.
Bill was the quintessential family man who took great pride and showed enormous love for those dear to him. With his sweetheart Anne, they moved to Pierrefonds from their native Verdun in 1962. There, they proudly raised their children and were active in the community. While his love for his family was always a priority, Bill also had great enthusiasm for hockey and golf, both of which he enjoyed well into his ‘70’s. He was a loyal employee of Bell Canada for over thirty years and somewhat sadly, a long suffering Leafs fan.
Bill is also survived by his sisters Carol (Edward Goodwin) of Sherwood Park, AB and Margaret of Lasalle, QC, in-laws Don and Dolores Carnochan of Peterborough, ON, and Jim Anthony of Lasalle, QC, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters Helen, and Betty (Jim) of Lasalle, and by brothers Jim (Myrtle) and Dave (Alice) of Pierrefonds.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a future date to celebrate Bill’s life and legacy. Should you wish, a contribution to an Alzheimer’s Society or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
