Michael grew up in Victoria B.C. as well as Dawson Creek, B.C. where he spent most of his childhood. He belonged to the 4H Club in Doe River, B.C. winning numerous trophies for showing his pigs. Michael’s career started in the Canadian Armed Forces during Peace time serving in the Military Police. For a short time after leaving the Army he was an owner/operator for Yellow Cabs in Calgary. He continued his career in Corrections at Nordegg, Calgary Remand Center, and Drumheller Institution where he was awarded a High Academic Medal during his training. He was then a Special Constable for the Calgary C-Train. During this time he moved his family to Beiseker, AB where he resided until his death. He then worked as a Letter Carrier at Canada Post in Calgary, AB. He tried long haul trucking for a short time and found he could not be away from his family for long periods of time. He worked for Alberta Highway Services in Beiseker and most recently returned to Enforcement with the Corp of Commissionaires. Michael was an avid camper, fisherman and loved being out with nature.
Christmas was Michael’s favorite time of year, he won several awards for his Christmas lighting displays in his front yard. He also volunteered and worked as Santa for many years around his community and Airdrie, AB. He was so delighted to see the joy on those little faces as they came to sit on Santa’s knee. Michael’s pursuit in life was taking care of his family. He worked very hard and would go out of his way to help people in need. He touched so many lives and will be sadly but fondly remembered by all those who knew and love him.
