It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Michael Chasca in Kelowna, BC on March 5, 2018. Mike was born on November 22, 1922 in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He immigrated to Canada after World War 2, at which time he started working on the railway. During this time, he met and married the love of his life Mary. Together, they eventually took over Mary’s family farm and expanded the family farm. They would then expand their family with four beautiful children. Years later they sold the farm and moved the family to the Okanagan. Mike then worked at the Capri Hotel for many years before his retirement. Mike enjoyed gardening and swimming, you could either find him at Athen’s Pool in Rutland, or during the summer months you could always find him in his garden growing an assortment of vegetables. Mike is survived by his loving wife Mary of 67 years, his children; John Chasca, Bonnie (Tim) Murphy, Jean (Ray) Mitchell, Dan (Kim) Chasca, grandchildren: Jaron Chasca, Sharla (Rob) MacKay, Tara Murphy (Shaun Scandrett), Kyle (Maggie) Murphy, Tyler Murphy, Sean Mitchell, Cole Chasca, Dane Chasca, Whitney Chasca, and Great Grandchild Ian Scandrett. Mike will be forever loved and missed by his family. A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 10th, 2018 at 1:00pm at Valleyview Chapel (165 Valleyview Road, Kelowna, BC). Entombment will follow at Lakeview Mausoleum. The family welcomes flowers.
