Obituary of Mary Odette
ODETTE: Mary Kathryn ‘Kay’
A resident of Ionia, Michigan, Mary Kathryn ‘Kay’ Odette (nee Doyle), passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018, comfortably at her home with loved ones by her side at the age of 94.
Kay was predeceased by her husband, William George Odette and her sons, Robert Odette, Thomas Odette; her daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Odette; her brothers, Leo Doyle, Morris Doyle, Louis Doyle and William Doyle. Sadly, her son David Odette just recently passed away on September 8, 2018.
She is survived by her sons; Dr. William Odette, John Odette and wife Renee; her daughter, Dr. Caroline Odette and husband Dr. Anastas Pass; her sister, Patricia Brush; grandchildren, Olivia Odette, Owen Odette, Ian Odette, Cullen Odette, Johnathon Odette, Erin Bosco and her husband, Mike Bosco; her great-grandchildren, Henry Bosco and Zoe Bosco; and several nieces and nephews.
Kay was born and raised in Chatham, met her husband Bill in Windsor, and they were married in 1953. She lived in numerous homes both in Canada and the U.S., eventually calling Ionia home in 1966. She was a secretary, sales representative, CFO, school board president, gardener, friend, sister, mother, and her favorite – grandmother. Kay loved quilting, had a green thumb with flowers and plants and played bridge in her younger years. Trips overseas with her sister and best friend Pat, were some of her favorite times, along with being with her children, of whom she was very proud. She also had a very strong faith and worked with special needs children and adults for several years at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where a Funeral Mass was held on May 3, 2018.
Family will receive friends and share memories at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim, on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Tilbury, on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., where Kay will be interred next to her husband Bill.
