Obituary of Mary McGill
McGILL, Mary Elizabeth (nee Kneller)
Passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018, at the age of 80. Predeceased by her beloved husband Arthur William “Bill” McGill and son James. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her surviving children Douglas (Sharon), Joseph (Barbara), Jeffrey (Wendy) and Penny (Kevin). Mary will be sadly missed by her eight grandchildren Amanda (Jeff), Jenn (Ryan), Robin (Justin), Sophia, Joshua, Daniel, Martha and Alice and her two great-grandchildren Brooke and Caleb. Mary treasured the unique relationships she had with all of them and tremendously enjoyed the fun she experienced with them. Sister to ten siblings, she is survived by her two brothers Jim and John and her sister Eleanor, predeceased by Tommy, Lorne, Winnifred, Reta, Elsie, Ruth and David. Mary was very fond of her many nieces and nephews along with their children. Mary often said that she didn’t have hobbies but her real greatest gift was for friendship and she shared it with everyone. She made friends everywhere she went and counted Jack, Wendy, Sandy and Terry among her very closest. Special thanks to the staff at Macassa Lodge, especially Robin and Jenn, and we will always be thankful to Dr. Sunjay Sharma and the staff at the Hamilton General Hospital for giving us this time with the most loving and fun mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother you could ever ask for. We were all so lucky to know her. Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Mountview Gardens Cemetery.
