Obituary for
Mary MacInroy (Peacock)
Mary (May) MacInroy, nee Peacock
— Sunrise November 29, 1941 — Renfrew, Scotland
— Sunset May 29, 2018 — Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Mary (May) MacInroy.
May was the heart of our family though all of life’s beauty and challenges. Her love was our touchstone. Her keen sense of humour kept us laughing and on our toes. Her friendships with people throughout her life brought comfort and joy to her and to them. She offered a compassionate ear and steadfast loyalty to those who were special to her.
May was a devout Catholic and gave immensely of herself in many endeavours involving both St. Philip the Apostle and Holy Cross parishes, among them Rainbows for God’s Children, Outreach for the Poor, St. Vincent’s Kitchen and provided Oshawa General Hospital chapel visits for the sick. Mary was a mediator and facilitator for programs within the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) and the Legion of Mary and a long-time Chair of ShareLife at St. Philips Parish. She will always be remembered for her commitment and compassion for others.
May was born in Renfrew, Scotland and emigrated to Canada in 1966. She is predeceased by her mother Agnes and her twin brother, James, in Renfrew, Scotland. She leaves behind her loving husband of 49 years, Cameron; daughter Carin (Aaron); and son David (Stephanie). She was a much loved Grandmother to Cameron and Ronan MacInroy and Liam MacInroy-Smith.
May also leaves behind Sisters-in-law Sheila Talbot (Frank); Janet Reilly (Frank); Judith McInroy (the late Stephen) all from New Brunswick; Brothers-in-law Lauchlan (Toronto) and Alan (Vancouver). As well, May leaves behind first cousins in Scotland; June Alford Pettigrew and (Godson) Steven Alford.
There will be a Memorial Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 373 Simcoe Street South, Oshawa ON Thursday June 7, 2018 at 11 am with Fr. Keith Callaghan Officiating. Visitation is offered before mass from 10am-11am. Interment of her ashes will take place following the mass at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. A reception provided by the CWL will follow in the church hall immediately after mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations to be made to the charity of your choice.
