Mary Reta Rooney
1920-2018
The death occurred peacefully at the Maplewood Manor,
Alberton, on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, of Mary Reta Rooney, beloved
wife of the late E. Gerald Rooney, of Alberton, age 99 years. (Former
owners of the Rooney Funeral Home Ltd., Alberton). Born at
Burton, Lot 7, PEI, on January 18, 1920, she was the daughter of the
late Edward Simon and Mary Beatrice (nee Doyle)
Griffin.
Beloved mother to Geraldine (Bev) Frizzle of Antigonish, Doug
of Scarborough, Ont., Pam (Allan) Leard, Olga (Jean Guy) Caron of
Orleans, Ont., and Daryl of Alberton. She is survived by her
17 grandchildren as well as her 19 great-grandchildren. Dear
sister to Olga Griffin of Summerside and sister-in-law to Catherine
Griffin of Summerside.
She was predeceased by her husband Gerald, sons James Rooney
and John Rooney, daughter AnAlayne Andrews, granddaughter Melissa
Caron, infant Frizzel, and by daughter-in-law Joanne
Rooney. She was also predeceased by siblings, Ada (late
Steve) Doyle, Anna (late Wesley) Johnston, Doris (late Everett)
McKenna, Bernadine (late Clem) O’Connor, and Doyle
Griffin.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home & Chapel. Visiting
hours Sunday 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Monday, November 19, 2018, from
the Sacred Heart Church, Alberton, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.,
Rev. Andrew MacDonald, Celebrant. Interment in the church
cemetery.
