Obituary for
Mary Elizabeth « Betty » Hynes (White)
Passed peacefully away December 24th, at the L.A. Miller Center, after an inspiring battle with cancer, Elizabeth (Betty) Hynes (nee White), aged 73 years. Predeceased by her parents Dan and Irene White and brothers Joseph, John, Maurice, Jimmy and Leo.
Leaving to mourn her husband of 48 years, Douglas Hynes; daughters Jennifer White (Lee) of Goose Bay, Lesley Sheppard (Ken) of Glovertown; five precious grandchildren, Nicholas, Kira, Rhiana, Colton and Denis. Sisters Alice Gibbons (Kevin – deceased), Frances Galgay (Gus – deceased) and Esther Burke (Terry – deceased), all of St. John’s, Brothers Edward White (Cindy) of Cupids and George Evans (Marg) of Calgary, AB. Devoted nieces and nephews, Nicholas and Kira’s father Terry Howlett and special friend Hedy Giangrande (Aldo).
Our most heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center especially Dr. Dawn Armstrong, Dr. Craig McIsaac and Renata Efford; as well as the incredible staff at the at the L.A. Miller Center Palliative Care Unit; your kindness and compassion at this most difficult time will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Vera Perlin Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society or your local SPCA/Animal Shelter.
The number of lives that she has touched is evident by her wide circle of family and friends. Her kind and generous nature, her sense of humour and her love of cooking, baking and music will live on in those who she loved and loved her. “Nothing else can take the place of music and friends”.
Resting at Barretts Funeral Home Mt. Pearl. Visitation Thurs. Dec. 27 and Fri. Dec. 28 from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm. Funeral mass to take place Saturday Dec.29 at 11:00 am from St. Peter’s church Mt. Pearl. Cremation to follow. Internment to take place at later date.
