Mary Ross (MacLean)
Mary Catherine Ross passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the age of 95 years. Beloved wife of the late Hugh Campbell (Cam). Loving mother of John (Di) and Bonnie (Claude). Much loved aunt of Kathy (Ken) and Pat (the late Robert). She will be forever remembered by her numerous extended family members and dear friends. Predeceased by her brother John (Joyce); nephew Robert; niece Laurie; grandnephew Jonathan; and parents John Archie and Clara.
Mary was born in Bell Island, NL in 1923. She moved to Nova Scotia as a young child and, in her 20s, moved to Oshawa, ON. While employed at Customs, she met and married Hugh Campbell Ross, becoming mother of John and Bonnie, and moved to Brockville, ON shortly after. A truly remarkable woman, wife, daughter, mother, aunt and friend, Mary lived her life with a strong faith and love of God. Her compassionate, generous, loving spirit touched many people. She was actively involved in the First Presbyterian Church, Brockville Museum, Sherwood Park Manor and numerous other community organizations. She also worked and volunteered at Brock Cottage.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Wednesday, September 26th from 6-8 pm. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Thursday, September 27th at First Presbyterian Church, 10 Church Street, Brockville at 1 pm. Interment will take place at a later date in Union Cemetery, Oshawa. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Presbyterian World Service and Development or Heart and Stroke Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged.
