Marlene Leona Pokrant
(nee Kotchorek)
September 2, 1938- December 22, 2018
Peacefully and finally pain free, after a battle with cancer Marlene went to home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2018 at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre at 80 years old. Left to cherish her memory and dearly missed by her husband, Cliff of 61 years and her two sons, Gord (Iris) and Doug (Karen), sisters Deanna (Keith) Hood and Eileen (Harvey) Pischke, sister-in law, Jean (Harold) Klassen. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marlene was predeceased by her parents Rudolf and Elizabeth Kotchorek.
In her early years Marlene attended Success Business College and went on to work at various jobs for a number of years including the T.D Bank, and as a “super snooper” for Dominion Grocery Stores. Marlene loved golf and curling and was a member of the Tuxedo ladies golf club and Blumberg. In the winter she was often happily found at the Charleswood Curling Club and developed lasting friendships. Cliff and Marlene settled in Selkirk in 2013 after spending 25 years living between life at the cottage at Lee River and travels to their Texas family down south. Prior they raised their family in Charleswood. Marlene and Cliff were members of the Lutheran Church.
Heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care provided by the nurses and the Palliative Care team in Medicine 1 at Selkirk Regional Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlene’s memory may be made to either Palliative care Box 5000 120 Easton Drive, Selkirk Manitoba R1A 2M2 or Cancer Care Manitoba.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
