Marjorie Norma (Jackie) Assaly
ASSALY, Marjorie Norma (Jackie) of Leduc, AB passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the age of 96 years. Jackie was born in Ribstone, AB on October 16, 1921. She served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, stationed at Rockcliffe, ON from February 1942 to October 1943. While raising her family, she thoroughly enjoyed working with the staff and students as a secretary from 1969 to 1987 at Strathcona Composite High School in Edmonton. Jackie will be missed by her four children: Greg (Anne) Assaly, Robin (Larrie) Mandreck, Bernie Assaly and Joan (Ron) Decker; six grandchildren: Ryan (Chantelle) Assaly, Janelle (Joel) Harder, Bethany (Jim) Meyers, Shelah (Barry) Fennel, Kadie-Sue (Ralph) Baez, Ronnie (Kate) Decker; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her brothers Murray Wilde and Marnon (Bonnie) Wilde, sister Lee Stewart, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Jackie was predeceased by her parents Norman and Elsie Wilde, her brother Gordon Wilde, sister Eleanor Sabine, former husband Arthur Assaly and sister-in-law Frankie Wilde. The family wishes to extend their deepest thanks to the caring staff at UAH 5F2, Lifestyle Options Leduc, and Extendicare Leduc. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home & Cemetery, 16204 Fort Road (access from 153 Avenue), Edmonton, AB. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Jackie to the Edmonton Humane Society or the Canadian Wild Life Foundation.
