Marjorie Elizabeth Rawlyk
Marjorie Elizabeth Rawlyk (née Lasiuta) passed away at her residence on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the age of 81 years.
Marjorie is survived by her husband Harry of 57 years. Her daughter Katherine and son-in-law David Currie. Sister-in-law Darlene Lasiuta of Red Deer, AB; brother-in-law Mike (Rusteena) Rawlyk of Osoyoos, BC; sister-in-law Lynn Rawlyk; nieces and nephews: Timothy (Karen) Lasiuta and family, Michael (Darlene) Lasiuta and family, and Glenn (Tannis) Lasiuta, all of Red Deer, AB, and Pamela (Duane) Rockerbie and family of Lethbridge, AB, Angie (Cameron) Irvine and family of Port Moody, BC, and Craig (Thea) Rawlyk and family of Port Moody, BC.
She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas (1976) and Pearl (née Nikiwski) (1996) Lasiuta. Brother Edward Lasiuta (2014). Grandparents Nicholas and Kathrine Nikiwski, Michael and Mary Lasiuta. Brothers-in-law: Steve Rawlyk, Fred Rawlyk, and Tom (Norma) Rawlyk; sisters-in-law Olga (Steve) Pawlovich and Annie (Mike) Atamonchuk.
Marjorie was born in Eston, SK on October 6, 1944 and lived with her parents and brother in Brock, SK until 1946. The family moved to Saskatoon, SK, where she resided until her death. Marjorie graduated from Mount Royal High School and then took her secretarial course at the Saskatoon Technical Collegiate graduating in 1964. Marjorie married Harry on September 2, 1967 and they had a daughter Katherine who was their pride and joy. Marjorie worked at various jobs and in May 1969 she began working at the University Hospital in the Department of Food and Nutrition as a clerk and became secretary in 1972, where she stayed for 40 years, until her retirement in 2009. In 1993 Marjorie received her Business Administration Certificate from the University of Saskatchewan. Marjorie enjoyed country music, photography, drawing and scrap booking, and was interested in doing the family history, which she started in 1990, and continued to update it as the years passed.
Vigil for Marjorie will be held at Park Funeral Home, 311 Third Avenue North on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 211 Avenue O South, Saskatoon on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Ciro Perez, CSsR as Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Marjorie’s name may be made to the Saskatchewan Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
