Marjorie Eileen Morton Wells 2018 avis de deces

Marjorie Eileen Morton Wells
A sudden yet quietly peaceful transition from this world to
life evermore occurred very early Wednesday morning, January 4, 2018
for Marjorie Eileen (Morton) Wells. Born in 1929 in McQuade, NB, she
was the second of fraternal twins, the daughter of the late Russell
William Morton and Helen Mildred (O’Neal) Morton. She was
predeceased in 2009 by her devoted husband of 53 years, Parker George
Wells.
Marjorie is lovingly remembered by sons Graham (Joanne) of
Halifax, NS and Ian (Lalaine Gonzales) of Moncton, NB and cherished
daughter Joyce Steeves (Gregory) also of Moncton. She was a welcoming
and delightedly supportive Nana to Dylan (Rachael Schwartz); Natalie
(Max Ingall); Keillor (Lieneke); Meryn (Kyle Crawford); Lirah; Talia;
and David. Last Saturday she held and welcomed her first
great-grandchild Abraham, son to Keillor and Lieneke Steeves. Her
children and grandchildren were the focus and beneficiaries of the
greatest part of her life’s energy, objects of her love,
care and direction (solicited or not).
Marjorie also leaves her twin brother James (Norma) of
Beaconsfield, QC and a sister-in-law Nettie Wells (late Robert) of
Baie Verte, NB, as well as several beloved nieces, nephews and
cousins. Winnie (Sutherland) Coates, her closest cousin and virtual
sister, left this world for the next in 2015, deeply
missed.
In the various phases of her life, Marjorie and Parker
welcomed us all and countless others to their good home and to
experience their warm hospitality. Mom’s needlepoint motto
« Oft may the pilgrim lift the latch and share my meal, a
welcome guest » was a deep reality in their lives, a
reflection of Christian service as well as personality. She spared
little effort to accomplish her calling at a well-set table or in the
provision of a comfortable bed! So many friends and guests. Her
concern for those in need of help was actively welded to her generous
nature and charity.
Mom’s core values were God, family and education
and her involvements flowed from these. In earlier years, she was
active in Home & School at the local and provincial levels.
Family connections and roots were vital to her being. Throughout life,
she participated in the witness and community life of Moncton Gospel
Hall, Faith Bible Chapel, First United Baptist and Highfield Baptist
Church. She was actively involved in the Evelyn Eaton Missions Group
at First Baptist and also Christian Women Moncton. Marjorie also
served for several years at Malagash Bible Camp, both as cook and,
later, registrar. She was a long-time supporter of InterVarsity
Christian Fellowship and Crandall University.
Marjorie’s employment experiences included CIBC;
assistant to Dr. Robert Bingham (which she regarded as her
post-secondary education); clerk at Moncton Hospital Out Patients;
Royal Trust.
The family is thankful and grateful to the staff of Kenneth
Spencer Memorial Home for their care and interest in Mom these last
sixteen months.
Her body is resting at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain
Rd, Moncton (858-1995) with visitation on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm
and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Service of Remembrance will be held in Fergusons
Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 9th,
2018 (Marjorie’s birthday) at 2:00 pm. Reception following.
Interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in
spring.
Donations can be made to a charity of the donor’s
choice. Private online condolences for the family can be made
