Obituary of Marilyn Adams (Stitt)
ADAMS – Marilyn “Inda”: Passed away at the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home on Thursday, December 20, 2018 of Simcoe in her 84th year. Daughter of the Late Walter and Mary Stitt. She will be gravely missed by her husband Jim of 66 years. Loving mother of Pam LaPlante and her husband Barry, Jim Jr. and his wife Colleen (O’Sullivan), Wally and his wife Brook (McIntosh) and Ted and his partner Sandy (Rutter). Cherished grandmother of Ashley, Breigh, Meghan, Jamie, Jillian, Eva, Catherine, Justin, Ben, Libby and great-grandmother of six. Also surviving are her many other relatives and friends. Inda was born in Simcoe and was a life-long resident, she led a very active and productive life. She was very active in the Carrie Alexandria McCall Chapter of the I.O.D.E. and was a life member and Past Regent as well as being active in the provincial junior I.O.D.E. organization. She was a member of the Lady Lions since 1970, serviced as President and she was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow, the highest award given by Lions International to deserving citizens. Inda was also very active in the Norfolk Hospital Volunteer Association, a past president, life member of the local organization and also a life member of the Ontario Hospital Volunteers Association. She was president of the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home Board of Directors for two years and a member of the Norfolk General Hospital Board for seven years. She was the Returning Officer for 3 elections for Haldimand/Norfolk and Brant. Inda was a member of Trinity Anglican Church in her youth and later a member of St. James United Church where she taught Sunday School. A stay-at-home mom while her children were growing up. She later sold real estate for George Pond Real Estate and became the manager of the Simcoe and District Real Estate Board. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, December 23, 2018 from 1 – 4 p.m. at THE BALDOCK FUNERAL HOME, 96 Norfolk St. N., Simcoe where the funeral will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. Reverend Mary Jo Patterson officiating followed by a private interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
