Hogue (Vaughn), Marilyn Doris, of Cole Harbour
We said goodbye to our mom, Marilyn Doris (Vaughan) Hogue on Friday September 7, 2018 after a lengthy and brave battle with cancer and Parkinson’s. Marilyn was born in Halifax July 4, 1941, the daughter of the late Jean Laurie (Driscoll) and Reginald Vaughan.
She grew up in Dartmouth, but lived an adventurous life with her loving husband Bruce as a military officer’s wife. They lived in various locations in NS, PEI, Ontario and Oklahoma. When she was young, she and Bruce took trips to Bermuda. Upon Bruce’s retirement, they moved to a home on Lake Echo, bought a fifth wheel and travelled all over
North America. Marilyn was a mother with keen hearing, a mischievous smile and a great sense of humour. She kept us all on our toes, especially our father. She loved dogs and leaves behind her beloved border collie Daisy who was a great companion and source of joy. She played piano, loved to sing and really knew how to dance. She made many great friends throughout her life and enjoyed working in the hospitals in various clerical positions.
She is survived by her wonderful husband Bruce to whom she was married for over 59 years and who took the best care of her while she was sick that anyone could ever wish for. Thank you Dad for always being there. She is also survived by her four children, Trevor Hogue (Susan Wissinger), Kelinda Sloan (Daniel), Nicole Jamieson (Mark), Erika Proctor (David) and her five grandchildren, Kenny Sloan, Gregory and Garion Ramsey and Jacob and Hannah Proctor. Marilyn was pre-deceased by her brother Dwight Vaughan and many wonderful aunts who
were very special to her.
Visitation will be held on Monday September 10, from 7:00-9:00pm in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. Funeral service will take place at 10:00am on Tuesday September 11 in the Atlantic Funeral Home Chapel with a reception to follow. All friends and family welcome. Please come help us celebrate our mother’s life. We look forward to seeing you.
