MARIA « Mary » D’Astolfo
D’ASTOLFO, Maria Catena (Papillo)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the
passing of our beautiful and compassionate
Mary on May 13, 2018. She was predeceased
by her father Francesco, grandparents
Vincenzo and Maria from Italy, and Domenico
and Filomena from Canada. Mary is survived
by her dedicated husband Frank, loving
mother Caterina, in-laws Maria and Umberto,
caring siblings Rita (Alfonso) and Joe, and
nieces Amanda and Alexandra, who she was
like a second mother to. She will be deeply
missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins,
extended family and friends. Mary had a
34-year career with Safeway, where she was
able to carry out her passion for floristry. Her
devotion to volunteerism did not go unnoticed.
She volunteered as an Ambassador Hostess
with the Vancouver Whitecaps for eight
years, and spent time bettering the lives of
children with her involvement in Children’s
Wish until May 2017. Mary will forever be
known for lighting up every room she walked
in, and for her gorgeous smile. Many thanks
to Mary’s nurses; Harinder, Nahid and Sam.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Jude’s
Catholic Church, 3078 Renfrew St,
Vancouver on Tuesday May 22, 2018 at 10:00
a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made
to Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.
