Maria de Lourdes Ferreira
1925 – 2018
Passed away peacefully at Stirling Heights Nursing Home in Cambridge, Ontario on Saturday, January 20, 2018, in her 93rd year. The beloved wife of the love of her life the late José de Lima Ferreira. Blessed with five children, the late Jorge Ferreira, Margaret Timmins (Rick), Phyllis Klein (Rich), Mira McInnis (Don), and the late Gerri Ferreira (Tim). Maria de Lourdes will be missed by her eight grandchildren Shannon, Julian, Kerry, Teresa, Marc, Miranda, Christopher and Ryan, and her five great-grandchildren Charlie, Damon, Lennox, Alyson and Emma. She is survived by her brother Jaime Lopes.
Maria will be remembered for her generosity and her joy in welcoming others into her home. She was an amazing cook and anyone entering her home never left on an empty stomach. Maria and José shared the love of music and dancing which they enjoyed weekly until their health declined. One of their greatest joys was spending time with their grandchildren. Maria was simply the best mother and grandmother anyone could ever ask for.
We welcome friends and family to the Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge on Saturday, January 27, 2018. Visitation will take place at noon, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm, reception to follow.
