Margot Theresé Calagoure
It is with heavy hearts that we announce, surrounded by her loving family, the peaceful passing of Margot Calagoure (nee Thornewell). Margot was the much loved wife (61 years) of Richard, the cherished Mother of; Anne Wilby, Gary (Kathleen) Calagoure, Rick (Julie) Calagoure & Corleen (Ross) Bradley. Margot leaves behind to mourn her loving Grandchildren; Ryan (Melissa) Wilby, Ainsley (Ryan) Mitchell, Garrison, Dillinger and Richard Calagoure, Shannon (Glen) Toombs, Brent Calagoure, Bryanna, Olivia and Branden Bradley, her 10 great grandchildren, her brother in law Karl (Doris), and numerous nieces and nephews. Margot was predeceased by her beloved Mother Anna Cobus, her sisters Diane and Barbara, her sisters in law Kay and Sue, and brothers in law, Sonny and Ian. Margot’s love, generosity, energy, work ethic and passion were apparent in every aspect of her life, whether entertaining for a group of any size, gardening, cooking or playing penny slots. But, Margot’s true love which knew no bounds, was her family. Margot’s early life spent traveling between Needles, California and Ottawa was filled with stories of which great movies are made. Her stories of summers camping at Muskrat Lake with the entire extended family hold fond memories for all. Our personal favorites are the recounting of the many trips to Florida in a car filled with a lot of kids (not all her own), cats and dogs – all of whom had varying degrees of motion sickness – and very little money, but a lot of love and laughs. Margot’s reply when asked to go somewhere, anywhere was “okay, sure”, there was no differentiating between an exotic locale or a chip wagon, she was up for it. In keeping with Margot’s wishes; Visitation will be held at Kelly Funeral Home Carling Chapel 2313 Carling Avenue on Tuesday, June 5th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will take place at St. Anthony 427 Booth Street on Wednesday, June 6th at 10 am. Burial will take place at Pinecrest Cemetery 2500 Baseline Road with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care Ottawa would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the staff at the Queensway Carleton for their care, the staff and volunteers at Ruddy Shenkman Hospice for their kindness and compassion and a special thanks to Dr. Paul Hacker for his great care of Margot.
