DENNIS; Margaret Agnes ~ After a beautiful and full life, and surrounded by her dear family, Margaret Agnes Dennis (nee Cross) left us for Heaven on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Margaret was the second oldest child born on December 29, 1929, in Blackburn, England, to Joseph Aloysuis and Ellen Veronica Cross (formerly Healey). Her childhood along with her siblings was very difficult as her mother died when Margaret was just nine years old and her father died when Margaret was eleven years old. She grew up and started her career as a nurse in England. She told us great stories of being a District Nurse riding her bicycle to see her clients (even once riding her bicycle off a cliff after following an old gentleman’s faulty directions). Margaret had three children who loved her very much, John, Jayne and Michael. Her husband, Cecil Dennis predeceased her in 1997. Margaret and Cecil started their relationship through being penpals. The family moved from England to Canada in 1968, where Margaret’s career continued, first in Toronto, where she worked at Riverdale Hospital and then up to Orangeville, where she ended up being a Director of Nursing. She always loved to camp and often said when she went to Heaven, she would be looking for the campgrounds. She also loved people, her community, family and friends and volunteering. People also loved her; she was nice to everyone she met. After her retirement, she volunteered at Cobourg Hospital within the Auxiliary and then later at the Community Health Center in Port Hope where she helped out with the cooking classes. Towards the very end of her life, in hospital, she was calm, quiet and brave. She was talkative and alert until the night before and on the last day, she just didn’t “wake up”. Have a cry for her and remember. Special thanks to the PSWs at CarePartners as well as to Dr. Dersnah and his staff and Community Care, and a special thank you to Angela, Zac and Kate, the nurses on 2B. Left with warm feelings of love and appreciation are Margaret’s three children: John (deceased) and his wife Glenda of Toronto, Jayne and her partner, Ron Kersey of Port Hope, and Michael and his wife Kerri of Orangeville. Margaret’s grandchildren will also miss her deeply: Ian, Colin, Victoria, Kelsie, Riley and Michaela. Her extended family and friends will never forget her. In lieu of flowers, Margaret would appreciate any donations to go to the Lung Association of Canada in her name or donations to her grandchildren’s education.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Margaret Agnes Dennis 2018.
