Lyle Cates
Cates: Lyle James Cates, age 90, of Kyle, Sk. passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Cypress Regional Hospital. There was no service at Lyle’s request. Lyle is survived by his wife Mary; daughter Lois (Leonard) Howes and their children Witt Howes (Jackie Vesey), Wyler and Cecelia; son Glenn (Sylvia) Cates, and their children Jay, Bill (Allison), Autumn and Lily; son Oran Cates and his children Colby Cates and Katelyn Cates; brothers-in-law, Dr. Al Will and William Byrd and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents William and Catherine; brothers and sisters, Elmer, Keith, Enid Henderson, Helen Will and Lettia Byrd. Lyle was born in Tuberose, Sk on April 13, 1928. He attended Elmont School and on January 7, 1952 he married Mary Garrett in Pennant, Sk. He was a mixed farmer all his life and ran an artificial insemination business for several years. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends. In his memory, memorial donations may be made to the War Amps of Canada or charity of the donor’s choice.
