Obituary Overview
Loris Greenhorn
Our loving wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma passed away peacefully holding her husband’s hand of 60 years, Bill. Mom was raised in Stranraer, SK. She was the third oldest of seven children. Mom loved her family. Mom, Dad, Dave and Ken spent many fond memories at their cabin at Wakaw Lake. Daughters-in-law Nicole and Diane soon graced their family. When special grandchildren Melanie (Dustin), Jenn (Kevin), Zach and Scott arrived, she was busy attending all their lacrosse, hockey, ringette, ball and highland dance competitions, as well as all their school and band concerts. Mom felt blessed to be called great-grandma to McKenna, Irelynn, Olivia and Cohen. She spent her last years’ attending their highland dance competitions, soccer games and school concerts. The great-grandchildren knew where great grandma’s special cupboard was and that it was always filled with wagon wheels, twizzlers and cheezies (all of Mom’s favorites!!)
Mom loved to garden at their home and at their cabin. Her flower pots bloomed the most beautiful blossoms, just like her beautiful spirit. Mom especially enjoyed bird watching at their cabin. Hummingbirds were her favorite and she always made sure the hummingbird feeder was filled with special water for them. Mom made the best homemade buns which were called “Grandma Buns” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We always looked forward when Bill would make a delivery of her fresh homemade buns to our families. Mom also made the best buttertarts and each family always received an ice-cream pail filled with them for us to enjoy over the Christmas holidays.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Bill; sons, Dave (Diane), Ken (Nicole); grandchildren, Melanie (Dustin) Maffin, Jenn (Kevin) Weber, Zach and Scott; great-grandchildren, McKenna, Irelynn, Olivia and Cohen. She also leaves behind her brother, Brian; sisters, Dorothy (Bill), Enid, Gina (Ron); sisters-in-law, Joan, Rose, Lee and Anne G; special childhood friend, Shirley and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Elgin and Dave; and in-laws, Alex, Don, Patsy, Grace and Pete, Anne and Orv.
We would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Royal University Hospital for the compassionate care they gave to our mom.
