Lois Isabelle (nee Peacock) Trenholm
1924-2018
The death of Lois Isabelle (nee Peacock)
Trenholm, 94, of Port Elgin, and formerly of the Murray
Road, occurred on Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Westford Nursing
Home.
Lois was born in 1924 on Murray Road to
Leonard Peacock and Emma Chapman. attending high school at
Fredericton, she continued on and graduated from Normal
School. Following a family tradition of teaching, she taught
in several one room country schools (six to eight grades) prior to
their closure and continued on at elementary schools in Port Elgin
where she served as principal and vice principal – music teacher prior
to retirement after thirty-three years in the
classroom.
In addition to her teaching, she and
husband LeRoy farmed and raised two sons and saw them attend college
and enter careers in their chosen professions.
During earlier retirement years with
husband LeRoy, she enjoyed local and distant travel, dancing, and
socializing with many friends. She was a member of the local
Silver Pioneer Senior Citizens and she served on the executive of the
provincial Senior Citizens Federation for several years. She
also served on committees instrumental in the development of Westford
Nursing Home and Cape Jourimain Nature Centre. A significant
passion during retirement was exploring her families’
genealogy. She enjoyed gardening and nature at the family
farm on Murray Road well into her eighties.
In addition to her church organizations
she was a member of the 1st United Church, Murray Corner, she served
many years as Sunday School superintendent and over fifty years as
church organist, carrying on from her mother.
She was predeceased by husband LeRoy,
father Leonard Peacock, mother Emma Chapman, and younger brother
Stephen Peacock. She is survived her her sons Randall
(Diane), of Ottawa, and Brian (Marlene), of Lower Jemseg; younger
brother and sister, Hugh (Laetitia) Peacock of Pembroke, ON, and
Eleanor Chapman of Nanaimo, BC; grandchildren, Kim and Andrew of
Ottawa, Barbra of Fredericton, Jorilee and great grandson Kaden of
Hampton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Jones Funeral Home, Sackville and Port
Elgin, NB (506-538-2241). A time of visitation will be held
from their Port Elgin location, 3 West Main St., on Tuesday, August
21, 2018 from 6-8 pm with a funeral service to be held on Wednesday at
11 am. Interment to take place in the Fernwood
Cemetery.
Family extends thanks to Westford
Nursing Home management & staff for the wonderful care
provided during her stay there.
