It is with heavy hearts that our family announce the passing of our Mum, Lilian. She was born in Saskatoon SK, the first of 3 children born to Elsie (Love) and Elmer McInnes. Lil was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Al (1993), her daughter Noreen (1967), son Raymond (2016) and brothers, John and Raymond.
Lil grew up in Saskatoon and married Allan Burrows in 1943. They had 4 children. Lil and Al moved from Saskatoon to Edmonton, and then Winnipeg during Al’s career with the Hudson Bay Company, Wholesale Division. They retired to Victoria BC in 1987.
After Al’s death, Lil kept herself busy with golf and was a long-time member of the Royal Colwood Golf Club. When she wasn’t golfing she was playing Bridge, a game she loved. Through those interests, she met and kept many dear and wonderful friends.
Lil was an amazing woman. When her Pulmonary Fibrosis compromised her lifestyle, she herself said that she couldn’t complain as she had 96 good years, only being inconvenienced for a year and a half with ill health. She quit golf in the fall of her 95th birthday and even managed to get in one last bridge game only 2 weeks before she passed.
Lil will be sadly missed by her son Donald (Marilyn), daughter Louise Head (Douglas), her 9 grandchildren, Nancy, Steven, Laurie, Troy, Tyson, Leigh, Lisa, Rhianna and Tyson, her 9 great-grandchildren, and a close-knit family of nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Lilian’s wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Jubilee Hospital Foundation. Attn. Respiratory Dept. 1952 Bay St. Victoria BC V8R 1J8.
