OBITUARY
Leonardo Clarin Dakis
December 8, 1941 – December 11, 2018
Leonardo Clarin Dakis, of Langley, British Columbia, passed away at the age of 77 on December 11, 2018.
The funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St Joseph’s Parish (located at 20676 Fraser Hwy, Langley BC). There will be a short viewing from 11:00-11:30am prior to the service. Services will be followed by a short reception in the Parish Hall. Burial will follow the funeral at Ocean View Burial Park (located at 4000 Imperial St, Burnaby, BC) at 1:45pm.
Leonardo was born in Santa Monica, San Luis, Pampanga, Philippines on December 8, 1941. Leonardo is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Arsenia « Zeny »; his children, Glen (Courtney Birnie) and Annie Borton (Dave); and his talented and beautiful grand-children Asya, Grayson, Brady Birnie, Alyssa Borton, Brynn Birnie, Brooke Birnie, Sophia Borton and Brandon Borton. Leonardo was predeceased by parents, Ramon and Rosenda Dakis.
Leonardo was a short story writer in the Philippines. After arriving in Canada in 1969, he worked at various jobs including hospital worker, painting and wallpapering and lawncare. He took up writing again in the 90’s with various Filipino publications when the family moved to British Columbia. He and Zeny enjoyed many Filipino community and church events together making many friends along the way. In recent years, they also enjoyed travelling and visiting with dear friends, Luis « Lito » and Nora Catanjal.
The family of Leonardo Dakis wishes to thank the wonderful people at Rosewood Residential Home in Langley for their service and support over the past 4 years.
