Leonard James “Len” Thompson
87 years
Peacefully Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his residence.
Beloved father of Laura (Derek Allerton), Rachel, Renée (Tobias Roth) and sadly missed by their mother Gizèle Brazeau. Cherished grandfather of Kaniq, Béatrice, Kai, Yann, Rosemarie and great grandchild Kinsley. Dear son of Wes and Phyllis (Gratton) Thompson, predeceased. Dear brother of Estelle Puro and Wesley Thompson Jr., both predeceased. Sadly missed by nieces, nephews and many friends. Len was a distinguished educator, dedicated counsellor and passionate coach who always had young people’s interests at heart. He earned numerous awards for his extraordinary service. A proud ambassador of Sudbury, Len was a strong advocate of the community and a keen volunteer in social, political and religious activities. Len had a deep love of life, learning and basketball. He valued meaningful relationships and great puns above all else.
