Leonard J Savoie
1931-2018
It is with deep sadness we announce the
peaceful passing of Leonard Joseph
Savoie, age 87, of Amherst, formerly of Thunder Bay,
Ontario. Leonard passed away at the Cumberland Regional
Health Care Centre on Monday, November 19, 2018.
Born in Lameque, NB, he was a son of the
late Joseph and Demerise (Hache) Savoie.
Leonard worked at the Great Lakes,
Abitibi Pulp and Paper Company, the Red Rock Mill, and for the
Resolute Company. He owned wood lots, operated heavy
equipment and drove transport truck for multiple woods
companies.
He will be dearly missed by his wife
Margaret Rose Polly Savoie, Amherst, NS; children Linda Sweet (Jeff),
Toronto, ON, and Joseph, Thunder Bay, ON; 5 grandchildren; 2 great
grandchildren; sisters Simone Stever, Nippigan, NB, Laurenteine
Boudreau, Halifax, NS.
He was predeceased by his first wife
Inez; daughter Janet; brother Peter.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St.,
Sackville, and Port Elgin, NB, (506-364-1300). A graveside
service will take place in the Fernwood Cemetery in the
spring.
Donations in memory of Leonard may be
made to the Fernwood Cemetery, or through the charity of your
choice.
