Laurie Wayne Dawson
Dawson, Laurie Wayne, 75 – North River. His passing occurred suddenly at home on December 14, 2018. Born on June 23, 1943, he was the son of the late Mary Jane (Cameron) and Vincent Dawson. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lorraine (Swan) Dawson; daughter, Tamara (David) Rice; grandchildren, Branden and Alyssa; sister, Leta (Larry) Boutilier; aunts, Hilda (Cameron) Swan and Leotta (Cameron) Dragland; mother-in-law, Alice MacRae; brother-in-law, Stephen Swan and sister-in-law, Catherine MacLeod; many cousins, nephews and nieces. Also predeceased by sister, Loretta (Peter) Kolbe. Laurie worked as a printer, carpenter and woodsman. He was always ready to pitch-in where help was needed. He enjoyed being around family and friends and was totally devoted to his grandchildren. He built a cottage intended to be a gathering point where all were welcomed with open arms. He possessed a quick wit and was always ready to have a party. He enjoyed going to dances and listening to music. Laurie loved the outdoors, the camp, fishing and hunting. He was an excellent carpenter and was known as the “cottagers’ handyman” for many years. He will be missed by all who knew him. No visitation by request. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 21st at 2p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Interment at later date.
