Gus passed away on October 19, 2018. He was born in Desfina, Greece on January 8, 1924. Predeceased by his wife, Evangelia in 2008; Konstantinos, or ‘Gus’, as he was known to many, is survived by his daughters Demetra and Georgia and grandchildren, Angela, Penelope, Evangelia, and Christina and his brother, Loukas.
Konstantinos lived life fully and well and was deeply committed to his family and friends. His strong sense of duty and belief in service extended to his community and country and for him there were two that he loved, Greece and Canada. As Deputy Mayor of his hometown in Greece, he undertook many initiatives to improve the quality of life for its citizens and after immigrating to Canada in 1955, he became increasingly involved in living a political life. His barbershop, Central Barbers, which changed locations a few times over the decades, will be remembered by many as a great meeting place where news was exchanged, and thoughts and ideas shared. Konstantinos will be remembered for his kind heart, his generous spirit, his love of learning and culture and his genuine enthusiasm for life.
A Funeral Service will be held at Ypapanti Greek Orthodox Church on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Royal Oak Burial Park with a reception to follow at the Fireside Grill, 2509 West Saanich Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ypapanti Greek Orthodox Church, 4648 Elk Lake Drive.
