Kenneth William Herzog
On June 20th, 2018 Ken went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, where there is no more pain and suffering. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side at St Boniface Hospital
.
Ken was born on June 10th, 1943 at the family Homestead in Seven Sisters Falls Manitoba.
He was a journeyman Millwright at age 21 and at 24 began supervising jobs at Foundation Company. After 10 years in management at Comstock International, in 1978 he and two partners started a business called Kamtar Construction. After five years the partnership split, the company dissolved and he formed Herzog Mechanical Ltd.. Later in 1995 Herzog Mechanical Ltd. was integrated with Pydee Engineering. He continued being active in the company until he had to be hospitalized because of his health.
He enjoyed golf until after having four hips replaced, he had to give it up. He enjoyed watching various sports on TV, watching his grandchildren grow up, and having an evening drink of Metaxa (brandy).
Ken is predeceased by his father, William (Bill) and mother Flora and two brothers John and Ron; as well as his good friend and brother-in-law Hap Hoeppner of Calgary, and his mother-in-law Helen Barkman
Ken leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife Helen of 38 years. Daughter’s Tammy (Kim) Leah, Lisa (Scott) and son Leon (Darlene). Ken also leaves behind a generation of cherished grandchildren, Kevin, Rylee, Rebekka, Sarah, Matthew, Audrey, Alyx, Noah and Josiah. And a wonderful sister Lorraine Hoeppner of Calgary, and nieces and nephews. In addition to his loving family, Ken leaves behind many dear friends and fellow employees. He enjoyed all the many facets of millwrighting and indentured many men in his lifetime.
We wish to thank all the nurses and doctors at ICU at St. Boniface Hospital that helped to make Ken’s stay there as comfortable as possible.
A service of remembrance will be held Thursday June 28th 2018 at 2 p.m. at Glen Eden funeral home at 4477 Main Street (West St Paul).
