Remembering Kenneth…
AMUNDRUD, Kenneth
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth (Ken) Walter Amundrud peacefully in his sleep on August 17th, 2018.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Grace; his eldest brother Gordon (Barb) and his sister Marlene (Ron). He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Molly; his son, John (Dianne) and daughters Barb (Glen) and Donna (David); his grandchildren Kelly, Kennedy, Steven, Kirsten, Laura, Lydia (Brendan) and Harrison and his brothers Howard (Helen) and Norm (Marg) and sister Marj (Lou).
Ken loved to play sports, to help others play sports: (he coached his children’s hockey team and softball teams) and his greatest pleasure in his later years was to watch his grandchildren play tennis, golf, handball, volleyball, basketball (and the violin). Hockey took him to Kelowna as a member of the Kelowna Packers in the early 50’s and it was there that he joined BC Tree Fruits where he worked for his entire career. Work took him to Saskatoon where he met his wife, Molly, at the Riverside Tennis Club. He became an enthusiastic tennis player and a passionate golfer. He is remembered with much affection as a gentleman on and off the court and course; and for his kindness, warmth, gentleness, loyalty, and sense of humour. He will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his wife, his children and his many grandchildren of whom he was so fond and proud.
A private celebration of Ken’s life is being held in Edmonton. Another celebration will be held at a later date in Calgary.
