Obituary for
Kenneth Nash
NASH, Kenneth Eric – After a lengthy illness, fought with strength and dignity, Ken passed away peacefully at the Port Colborne Hospital on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the age of 75. Beloved husband for 53 ½ years of Carol (nee Danby). Cherished father of Kelly Nash and Kevin Nash (Cassandra). Proud and loving grandfather of Allison, Brian and Emily Nixon. Dear brother of Ruth Reddekop (Wes) and Tedd Nash (Leigh). Also survived by his father-in-law Bruce Danby (Betty) and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by his parents Eric and Vera Nash, sister Violet and brother Allan.
A respected businessman, Ken was the owner and operator of Ken Nash Paint and Wallpaper Ltd. for the last 38 years. His integrity and honesty were above reproach and he taught his children those same values. Ken was a kind and charitable man, who believed in giving back to his community. He devoted many hours volunteering for several worthwhile organizations. He served as President of the Chamber of Commerce in Welland and Port Colborne as well as President of the Welland Downtown Development Board and the Canadian Decorating Products Association (CDPA).
In his leisure time, Ken enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time at the family cottage on Sandy Beach where he cherished the memories and friends made there through the years.
Ken’s greatest love was his wife Carol and family. A devoted husband and father, Ken was endlessly invested in his family’s wellbeing and livelihood. He taught his children and grandchildren the value of hard work, tough adversaries, strong mentors, and the importance of family. These are values that they will take forward in their personal and professional lives.
The Nash family extends a heartfelt thank you to all those who have journeyed with them through Ken’s illness. To his family Doctor, Dr. Kouros, the Doctors at St. Catharines General, the nurses and staff at the Walker Family Cancer Centre and Dr. Scher and the palliative care team at Port Colborne Hospital; your care and compassion will always be remembered.
Respecting Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place and his family honoured his memory privately at a graveside service. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Walker Cancer Foundation with cards available at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland who are in care of the funeral arrangements. Online condolences available at www.cudneyfuneralhome.com
