In Loving Memory
Ball, Ken – Surrounded by the love and laughter of his family at home, Ken peacefully reunited with his wife Jeanette (2012) and moved on to his next adventure on Thursday November 8, 2018. Staying behind to carry on Ken’s dry sarcastic wit and staunch political passion are his daughters, Christine Ball (AJ Seale) and Caron Ball (Dave Gorman), grandchildren Jessica (Steve), Jordan (Stephanie), Lauran (Alex), Dan (Kaeliegh), Valerie (Rob) and AJ, and great grandchildren Ryder, Scout, Lucy, Barrett, and Bella.
Rounding out Ken’s family are brother-in-law Rob (Connie) and sister-in-law Yvette, nieces Stefanie, and Tracy (Jamie), great nephews and niece Cameron, Morgan, Spencer and Sebastian and cousins Mike (Sandy), Joy (Steve), Mike (Lindsey), Maryann (Dave), Bryan (Apolinar), and Brent.
A special shout out and huge thank you to the wonderful « Hardware Gang » and other friends that kept the coffee and stories flowing over the years, but most importantly the last few months.
Ken now joins his wonderful parents Sherm and Clarice Ball, in-laws Frank and Louise Kilbreath, and his brother in law Roger Kilbreath.
With that group we know the party’s already started!!
Ken’s huge passion in life, after his family, was definitely shooting sports and gunsmithing. He graduated from the gunsmithing course at Trinidad State College in 1964 and joined his Dad at Corunna Hardware and began his 54 year career repairing, selling, and horse trading firearms.
Ken grew up in Scouts and Rovers attaining the level of Queen’s Scout, and travelled to England as a Rover when he was a teenager.
His love of outdoors also included camping and fishing at Miller Lake and Hope Bay with family and making many life long friends.
Ken was a past president and board member of Lambton Sportsman’s Club, where he spent countless hours shooting, drinking coffee, telling storie,s and dispensing tons of advice.
As cremation has already taken place a Celebration of Ken’s Life will take place on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 1pm – 4pm with Words of Remembrance at 1:30pm at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 447. (350 Albert St. in Corunna)
In keeping with Ken’s causal approach to life you’re encouraged to wear Ken’s signature attire of jeans and a tee shirt, or feel free to spice it up with some hunting camo or blaze orange.
A private family interment of Ken’s ashes will take place on Monday November 19, 2018 at Bear Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and to honour Ken’s passion for all shooting sports, donations in Ken’s memory can be made to the Canadian Shooting Sports Association Legal Fund.
A heart felt thank you to Dr. Ghate, Dr. Lilly, Dr. Grochowski, the wonderful nurses and staff in the oncology dept at Bluewater Health, the LHIN, Bayshore, VON, and Kevin of Knight’s Funeral Home Ltd. who have all helped Ken and his family navigate through this challenging time in their lives.
