Kathleen « Kay » Simms
1930-2018
Kathleen
« Kay » Simms, 87 years of age, of
Amherst, formerly of Maccan, passed away peacefully on Sunday,
February 4, 2018 at the Northumberland Hall, Amherst. Born in
Sackville, NB, she was a daughter of the late Hermon & Fanny
(Hicks) Demont.
Kay started work at Hoeg’s Grocery
store, then spent 10 years at the Sifto Salt Mines Factory.
After getting married to Malcolm Simms, her husband for 43 years, she
moved to Hubbard’s, where she worked for 23 years at the CFS
Millcove. Following retirement she and her husband retired
to the Maccan area. She loved music and loved animals. Kay
enjoyed having company over for a chat.
She is survived by her sister Isabel
Dwyer of Amherst, Isabel’s children, Raymond (Bonnie), Steven ( Mary
Lou) , Barry (Gloria), Albert (Karen) , Vicky, Eileen (Paul), Lisa
(Randy); many great nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased
by her husband Malcolm in 2010.
Arrangements are under the care and
direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home,
70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). No visitation by request. A
graveside service will be held in the Amherst Cemetery in the
spring.

contributions may be made to the L.A. Animal Shelter.
