Obituary for June Powell (Major)
POWELL, June – Surrounded by her family, June passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 15, 2018 in her 78th year, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife and best friend of the late George Powell (2014). Cherished mother of Sid (Lois), Allison (Dennis), George Jr., and Susie (Brian). Loving grandma to seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Linda Stevens (Neil) and Sharon Jones (Edward “Ted”). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Dennis and Lillian Major, daughter Kathy, granddaughter Jennifer, brothers Dennis Jr. and James and sister Evelyne.
June loved to sing and volunteered as a soloist for 40 years at Rapelje Lodge, Portal Village and the Woodlands of Sunset. A special thanks to our support team; Dr. Dooler, nurses Kim, Josh and Chang and to the P.S.W.’s Tiffany and Tanya.
The family will receive friends at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Tuesday, April 17th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Winger Church of Christ, 43238 Hwy. #3, Wainfleet on Wednesday, April 18th at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Fonthill Cemetery.
