John George Robertson Hastie of Simcoe, Ontario
February 6, 1936 – October 30, 2018
Passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the V.O.N. Sakura Hospice, Woodstock. Mr. John Hastie of Simcoe in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Sheila. Loving father of Erika Hastie and Iain Hastie and his wife Lesley. John will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Born in 1936 in Edinburgh, Scotland, John moved to Simcoe in 1957. He embarked on his career with the Royal Bank of Canada serving the bank for 36 years. He was an active leader and spokesperson for the fund raising team for Prostate Cancer Research and Patient Relations for London Health Sciences. He was an avid supporter and board member of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum as well as the boards of Norfolk Association for Community Living and the Norfolk Golf and Country Club. He helped with many endeavours to improve Norfolk County. John was proud of his many accomplishments and many flights and co-piloting the B25 Mitchell. There will be a gathering of friends at the Norfolk Golf and Country Club (200 Argyle St., Simcoe) on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. If so desired, donations may be made in John’s memory to the London Health Sciences Foundation Prostate Cancer Research or the V.O.N., Sakura House, Woodstock.
