MacKINNON, John A.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John A. MacKinnon on April 26, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Black Point on March 27, 1935, to Rory and Cassie MacKinnon and brother to 11 siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Grace (nee MacDonald); sons, Alexander (Gail) and Eric (Tammy); daughters, Elizabeth, Nora (David) and Natalie (Roland), and son-in-law, Colin. Also leaving behind 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, including special granddaughter, Mikaila.
A fisherman for 53 years, Dad still loved to talk about his days at sea fishing lobster. He also loved playing guitar and singing with his brothers and close friends and hunting for deer up in the mountains.
He was predeceased by son, Roddy; daughters, Beverly and Gloria and son-in-law, Patrick.
We would like to thank Highland Manor in Neil’s Harbour and Palliative Care in Sydney for the great care given to Dad and his family.
Dad was a member of St. Margaret’s Parish in Bay St. Lawrence.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Highland Manor in Neil’s Harbour.
