Obituary of Jerry Simpson
Peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, at Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound, on Tuesday, August 7th, 2018. Gerrard Jerome “Jerry” Simpson, of Owen Sound, at the age of 65 years. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Debra Simpson (nee Vansickle). Loving father of Laura and Jennifer Simpson. Proud grandfather of Brodie. Cherished son of Verna Simpson, of Balmy Beach and the late Jerome Kunkel and the late Lloyd Simpson and son-in-law of Marie Vansickle-Spark, of Owen Sound and the late Lyle Vansickle and the late David Spark. Dear brother of Gail McKibbon (Ron), Bill Simpson (Sandy) and Kathy Simpson, all of Owen Sound, Lynn Leighton (Bob), of Elmira, Donna Whiteman (Wayne) (both deceased), Carol Rankin (Ray), of Wellesley, Barbara Maluske (Doug), Carey Simpson (Anne), Betty Simpson, all of Owen Sound, Kirby Simpson, of West Bank, B.C., Michael Simpson (Debbie), of Brampton, Susan Mosher (Hank), of Bonfield, Debbie Aiken (Murray), of Allenford, Jacqui Perry (Jim, deceased), of West Bank, B.C., Lori Morton (Dale), of Hepworth, Peter Simpson (Belinda), of Owen Sound, Rob Simpson, of Park Head, Sandra Shipley (Joe), of Wiarton and Jim Simpson, of Windsor and brother-in-law of David Vansickle, of Calgary, AB, and Linda Barfoot (Doug), of Owen Sound. Jerry will be sadly missed by his many 60 nieces and nephews, 67 great-nieces and nephews, 8 great-great-nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to count. Jerry loved cooking, hunting, fishing and a nice cold beer. He always liked to tease and joke with family and friends and hanging out with his best friend, Paul Weir. Jerry considered himself a jack-of-all-trades and master-of-none but was always willing to lend a hand. He will be missed more than words could ever be said but now Heaven has gained another cook in the kitchen.
A Celebration of Life Visitation for Jerry Simpson will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6, 1450 – 2nd Avenue West, Owen Sound, on Sunday, August 12th, 2018 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Casual attire is preferred. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Owen Sound at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Chapman House Hospice or the charity of your choice as your expression of sympathy and may be made through the BRIAN E.
