OBITUARY
Jennie Ruth Mitchell
October 3, 1931 – April 13, 2018
Jennie Ruth Mitchell (nee Skeldon) of Sherwood Park and formerly of Leduc, Alberta departed this world to be at peace with our Heavenly Father on Friday, April 13th, 2018, at the age of 86 years, after succumbing to a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Jennie’s kind soul and giving spirit touched so many and will never be forgotten. Jennie was born to Fred and Millicent Skeldon (nee Webb) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on October 03rd, 1931. Jennie Ruth Skeldon married Elwood Irwin Mitchell of Saskatoon (formerly of Radisson) on June 30th, 1950. After leaving Saskatoon with Elwood in 1951, they settled in Leduc and Jennie later worked as a dietary aide, and then as a seamstress until her retirement in 1992.
Jennie is predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Elwood. Jennie is predeceased by 12 of her 14 siblings: Alice, Ted, Thora, Lloyd, Phyllis, Maurice, Doris, Ben, Roy, Ross, Frank, and Fay, and is survived by two siblings including her twin sister Jean and her brother Bob. Jennie and Elwood have four children: Colleen Mitchell of Edmonton, Gail Astle of Sherwood Park, Fay Chorney (and husband Jeff) also of Sherwood Park, and Bob Mitchell (and wife Eulalee) of Edmonton. They have five grandchildren: Kelsey Bagnall (and husband Brad) of Airdrie, Brandon Astle (and wife Melissa) of Sherwood Park, Robbie Mitchell of Edmonton, and Chris Chorney and Shaun Chorney, also of Sherwood Park. They also now have three great grandchildren: Audrey Bagnall, Sasha Astle, and Gordon Bagnall.
A memorial funeral service will be held at St. David’s United Church located at 4614-48th Street in Leduc, Alberta on Saturday, May 05th at 1:00 o’clock pm. Jennie chose cremation so there will be no internment to follow. There will be a light luncheon served after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. David’s United Church, Leduc, or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada at the following website: alzheimer.ca/en/Home.
