Obituary of Jean Coleman
Peacefully from complications of alzheimer’s, on Monday, May 21, 2018, at St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, Jean Isabel Coleman, a long-time resident of Aldborough Township, passed away in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her husband Carl J. Coleman (1997). Loving mother of Carol Riess (Frank) of Sarnia, Ron (Maureen) Coleman of London, Barry (Theresia) Coleman of Alberta and the late Nancy McGill (2011) (Brian). Cherished grandmother of Jeffrey (Valerie) Riess, James (Nicole) Riess, Melanie (Noel) Manchulenko, Marie McGill and Jane McGill. Great-grandmother of Avrey and Declan Riess and Adam and Natalie Manchulenko. Survived by sister-in-law, Marie Smith. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by daughter-in-law, Denise (2015). Jean was a good wife and good mother and a good daughter to her mother, Florence, creating a sandwich generation before a sandwich generation was ever mentioned before her time. She was also a multi-talented woman. She was a seamstress, crafter, sewer, knitter and was specially known for crocheting dishcloths and scrubbies that have been shared around the world. Jean loved to travel and especially enjoyed the Canadian Rocky Mountains with her son and daughter-in-law. Jean was a valuable asset to her community, helping at the Rodney Legion, C.W.L., driving the elderly to appointments, parties and events and babysitting for family and friends in the community. She loved hosting a good party, showers and weddings for others, but never for herself. She could always find a four leaf clover, where others could never. Relatives and friends will be received at DENNING’S OF RODNEY, 212 Furnival Road, Rodney (519-785-0810) on Friday, May 25th from 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will commence at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from St. Mary’s Parish, West Lorne.
