OBITUARY
Jean Mary-Anne HADDEN
May 4, 1935 – June 22, 2018
On June 22nd, our dearly beloved mother and wife passed on to the presence of Jesus with family by her side.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, her 5 brothers (Ralph, Roy, Don, Bob and Wilson) and is survived by her wonderful husband, Marr Hadden, her four children, David (Susan), Brian (Cathy), Jennifer Brown (Roger) and Richard, two step-sons, Jim and Rob, eleven grandchildren: Brandon Wilkie, Jennifer (Jon) Boughton, Jillian (Chris) Earls, Jon (Marissa) Wilkie, Joshua Wilkie, Thomas Brown, Steve Brown, Josiah Wilkie, Alexis Brown, Shelby Wilkie and Auston Wilkie, plus one precious great-granddaughter, Felicity Earls.
Mom was born on May 4th, 1935 in Stockholm, SK to Adolf and Olga Wall, where she resided until she was twelve. In 1947 following the loss of Mom’s brother Roy in WWII service, the family moved to Fort Langley. Mom graduated from LSS in 1953, with the dream to become a Registered Nurse, which took her to Kamloops. This is where she met and married our father and raised their four children.
During her Kamloops years, she was very involved in serving in a number of clubs and organizations and was a wonderful hostess to many dinner guests; Mom loved the sound of her home filled with friends and family. She also dearly loved the times spent at the family cottage on Okanagan Lake, where her hospitality was also continually and graciously extended.
In 1980 the decision was made to move to Abbotsford where Mom worked in a medical office for a number of years and eventually decided to fully realize her dream of becoming an RN, where she graduated from UFV’s Nursing Program in January 1992.
Mom’s years of nursing took her to Texas, Michigan, Washington and briefly in California. She also took her nursing skills to Kobe, Japan following their earthquake in 1995 and made several trips to Baja, Mexico to assist at orphanages before retiring in 2004.
In January 2004 a very special man came back into her life and love struck quickly. Mom and Marr were married that April. Mom and Marr were able to spend fourteen wonderful years together enjoying each other, skiing, playing badminton, softball, and travelling. They also loved supporting their grandchildren and were often found at hockey/baseball games, soccer matches and school functions.
Mom was steadfast in her salvation, even in a life that faced much adversity. Mom always hoped that all would come to knowing the joy of being FORGIVEN which can only come in Jesus, as she did. It is the greatest gift of all.
A Celebration of Mom’s life will be held on Friday, July 6th at Living Waters Assembly, 9095 Glover Road, Ft. Langley, at 2:00 pm, with a Tea to follow at Fort Langley Community Hall, 9167 Glover Road, Ft. Langley. Please note there is limited parking at the church and hall.
The depth of our loss is profound – Mom loved each of us so deeply and she will forever be missed.
