Margaret “Jean” CARRIER
July 16, 1940 – January 5, 2018
CARRIER, Margaret Jean, (Jean) beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away at home January 5th, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. She leaves behind to remember her, her children Allan (Sherry), Elaine (Mike), Carolyn (Brian), Judy (Vern), Mark (Teresa), and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Along with her immediate family, she is lovingly remembered by extended family and many dear and close friends. She was predeceased by her husband Armand, and son Alfred, as well as many others within her close and extended families. Born in Swan River Manitoba on July 16, 1940, Mom was raised near Lenswood and lived there until she moved to The Pas, MB, where she worked until she met a young man by the name of Armand. In August of 1959, they were married and moved to Albertville, SK to begin their life together. They moved to Spruce Home 5 years later with 4 children in toe and a farm to manage. Within the next 5 years, 2 more children were added to the family and they stayed on the farm until they moved into Prince Albert in 1984. In Prince Albert, they operated a small business and Mom worked in child care. In 1991, they moved to the east flat into the house that Mom lived in until her passing. She continued to work in child care until Dad got sick and as a result, she retired to look after him until his passing in 2007. Mom loved reading and travelling and managed to get away on numerous vacations including those when she would simply pack up her much beloved car and head off home to visit with her sisters. Up until the very end, Mom could always be counted on for her memory: where things were stored, who was related to whom, when they got married, how many children they had, and she could tell us everyone’s birthdates including her great grandchildren’s. She was so proud of her family and loved all of them unconditionally. Her accomplishments in her lifetime include raising her children and the children of the families she babysat for. The house she maintained was a home to everyone who crossed the threshold, family and friends alike. Everyone who entered was welcomed warmly, fed fully on wonderful home cooking, and coffee was always on the stove in her house. She fought her cancer courageously and our lives are much diminished now that she is no longer with us. She will remain in our hearts forever. A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575- 28th Street West, Prince Albert on Saturday January 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Serfas officiating. Donations in Mom’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 101 – 440 Second Ave. N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2C3 or Diabetes Canada, 2301 Ave C North #104, Saskatoon, SK S7L 5Z5.
