Jean Grey McCormick, age 95 of Fort Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, August 25, 2018. She was the wife of George Lloyd McCormick and the daughter of Alexander and Mary Forsyth.
Jean was born in St. Lambert, Quebec in 1923, graduated from St Lambert High School in June of 1941 and 18 months later married RCAF Sergeant George McCormick on December 5, 1942.
Jean was an active member in the Fort Saskatchewan community and volunteered at the Fort Saskatchewan Hospital Auxiliary for 40 years.
Family was Jean’s passion and delight.
Predeceased by George (husband of 63 years, 2004), Mary Forsyth (mother, 1974), Alex Forsyth (father, 1968) and Robert Forsyth (brother, 1937). Survived by all seven of her children – Beth McCann, John McCormick (Carol), George McCormick (Anne), Jean Anne Gilpin (Tom), Ian McCormick (Tina), Camie Hamilton (Lyle) and Sandi Lamoureux.
She had twenty-two grandchildren: Christie Dentzien (Marvin), Carmen Rawluk (Gilbert), Tyson McCann (Allison), John McGuire (Shelby), Anthony McGuire (Emily), Jason McGuire (Pam), Mark McGuire, Andrew McCormick (Tamara), Graeme McCormick (Danusia), Cameron McCormick, Adam Gilpin (Crystal), Kate Green (Glenn), Jeff Gilpin (Ellie), Kristina Little (Ron), Fallon McCormick, Justin Suave, Shane McCormick (Jaxsy), Keaton Hamilton, Brealyn Hamilton, Danielle Lamoureux, Mackenzie Lamoureux, and Jenise Lamoureux.
Plus, twenty-nine great Grandchildren: Zildjian, Mira, Iris, Samantha, Alanna, Lily, Xavier, Eleanor, Jared, Liam, Kasper, Astrid, Jonah, Sydney, Callum, Gillian, Camron, Liam, Cade, Ewan, Shane, Matthew, Andrew, Owen, Connor, Tim, Phoebe, George and Allure.
Jean requested a small family service. We wish to thank all of those at Rivercrest Care Centre and Dr. Steyck who cared for our mother during her last years. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Jean’s life which will be held at the United Church (10409 100 Ave, Fort Saskatchewan) on Friday, August 31 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Fort Saskatchewan Hospital Auxiliary would be appreciated.
