James Mitchell

James Mitchell passed away at the St. Paul Lutheran Home, Melville, SK, on September 4, 2018, at the age of 70 years.
James was born on July 18, 1948, in Winnipeg, MB, to Harry and Mildred (Dowdle) Mitchell and moved with his family to Vancouver two years later. He studied accounting and spent most of his working life at the Highland Valley Copper Mine in Logan Lake, BC. After retiring, he moved with his wife to Canora, SK, to follow their dream of expanding their goat farm.
Jim was passionate about photography and leaves behind a legacy of over 4000 photographs on subjects ranging from landscapes and still life to rodeos and race cars. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Mildred and his sister, Caroline. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheri; brother, Norman (Ingrid); and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A Service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. from Canora Gateway Community Church with Pastor Greg Bright officiating. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to Paws and Claws Animal Rescue (PO Box 1047, Yorkton, SK, S3N 2X3), as tokens of remembrance, in memory of James Mitchell.
