James Cyril Owen
OWEN, James Cyril – age 85 of Dartmouth passed away August 21, 2018 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Halifax he was the son of the late Cyril and Sylvia (Ardley) Owen. Jim was a keen fisherman, hunter and student of nature. He also had a great fondness for military history. One of his favorite past times was his morning coffee ritual with the gang at the Main Street McDonalds. Jim loved family gatherings where he was the center of attention with his stories and jokes. Survived by his wife of 65 years, Yvonne (Parks), children Allan (Mary), John (Bernardine), Jayne (Wayne Aalders), Danny (Stephanie). Grandchildren Jonathan, Nicholas, Holly, Devin, Katelyn, Benjamin, Sawyer and great granddaughter Aurora. Also survived by sisters Kally, Middy, and Betty of the United States. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at 12:30pm Monday August 27th in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens with a service following at 1:30pm at South End Baptist Church, Hastings Drive, Dartmouth. Reception to follow in church hall. Thank you to the nursing staff of 4 East Dartmouth General Hospital and a special thanks to Cindy and Vince for making dads stay comfortable. Donations may be made to the Sackville Rivers Association.
